My Dogs, My Shooting Buddies <3

Jess, Pippin, Bonnie and Dotty !

So here are my doggies. Each one has their own different strengths and abilities. They are all absolutely amazing and beautiful and I love them to bits ! We try and get what's best for them in order for them to have the best life! I always say "Treat your dog like you would treat yourself" which I think is very true. My mum says they are her babies. We are a family of four and we all have a dog each basically.

Jess is the eldest of them all.  Although we used to have a boxer dog called "Bonnie" (I know we already have a dog called Bonnie but I'll explain later). She is a brown springer spaniel. Jess is very good at flushing birds, where she gets any birds off the field flying into the air, and picking, which is finding the birds when they have been shot. She also acts very motherly to all the other dogs. She is my dad's shooting dog. She is very beautiful and always stands very proud all the time.

Bonnie is the third eldest dog of ours and she is my hunting dog. She is a black cocker spaniel. She is my absolute world and makes me happy every time I look at her. So even though we already had a dog called Bonnie, my dog is called this because we didn't get her as a puppy. On the shoots people were saying to my mum and dad that I needed a dog because I would always take the dogs that people couldn't manage if they had too much dogs to walk and they said I was really good with them and one day my mum and dad said I had £800 to go on pets for homes to buy a cocker, springer or sprocker spaniel. So I came down from my bedroom and say I wanted this 12 month old black cocker. They was confused to why I didn't go for a puppy but I explained her owner had nearly gone blind in both eyes. From then on I've loved her very, very, very, much!

Pippin is the second eldest dog of ours. She is a black springer spaniel. She is my mum's hunting dog, who is very affectionate as you can see in this picture. You cant really see pippin  in this picture but this just shows how lovely she is. She is a very good pen dog which means she stays stood at the side of you when you are shooting and doesn't move but still watches and observes where the birds drop. Although she is a fully grown springer she still has a puppy face.

Here is Dotty, the puppy of our family. She is basically my sister's as she didn't have a dog. She is actually jess' dog which I will write the full puppy experience in another blog. She looks so similar to jess, she's like a clone. She is very mischievous but very cute at the same time. She could get away with everything. When we make a fox call noise dotty puts her ears up like she has in this picture and its adorable!

My Hunting First Hunting Friends !

                                                   My First Hunting Friends !

So, on the first shoot that I went on, which was Brian's, I really enjoyed it everyone was so polite and welcoming. so, both my mum and dad go too, (oh and I also have a sister but It was this year I tried to get her to come hunting) anyway, it was good because I would be able to keep with either my mum or my dad so I wasn't on my own. Also there were a very kind lady called Jill and her husband Martin. My mum and dad knew them before me because they went to Brian's before I did and their son Dan who lives next door Jill is his Mum. Jill is a good leader on the shoot she lines out everyone out on the field. She helps everyone and is really kind. she also has 6 dogs! (Manny, Blue, Dale, Barren, Zac and Skid)

Brian- the landowner- is also lovely and his wife Jan. Brian also helps me with my shooting he is a shooting instructor at Park Lodge which I will do another blog about as I had a lesson with him. He also has a dogs called Dave and Collin.

I also go to other people's shoots and the people are lovely and help me which shows great respect and I'm very thankful. At the start of January or even before Christmas I cant remember, we went on a shoot and we had to get through the tall maze and my dog. being a cocker spaniel, went c-r-a-z-y! so a man asked me if I wanted him to take my dog through the maze it was very polite of him.

Also people on social media like Facebook are very supportive In both hunting and shooting. also yesterday with comments on Facebook about my Blog and I appreciate it very much .

There are also two people who come shooting with us and they are called Tolly (My God farther) and Ian. They both are very supportive and give me very good advice. Ian is my dad's work friend and my oldest dog Jess had puppies and I delivered his I called it gun but an named it a lovely name Bracken.

I am also glad my mum and dad are into shooting too because I love it not just because I'm obsessed and love the sport but its good I have my dads point of view but also good because I have my mum's too.

Where it all started !

 Where it all started !

Hi people of the shooting world! I'm Bethany- a young shooter who fell In love with the sport from  hunting/beating to actually shooting with my own gun.

It all started when my mum and dad asked if I wanted to go beating. Beating is where there are people with a flag in a field while the guns are on the other side and the beaters walk and shake their flags to encourage the birds to fly towards the guns as it sounds like another bird flying.

So I decided I would give it a go. I was 7 years old at the time. When I went the morning after all of the other beaters and shooters were lovely and the land owner- Brian- was also very welcoming.

I enjoyed it very much and since then I have loved it. If you think about it this means I have been hunting/ beating for 5 years I'm 11 now so its almost half my life now! wow !

In this picture on the right is my dad who is also very much into shooting. So is my mum. I love this because although  I love my dads advice, its good to listen from a woman's perspective.  I love going on different shoots as they are all different in their own ways.

When I was 9/10 I got my own dog even though we have four altogether. Her name is Bonnie and she is a beautiful black cocker spaniel, I will do a full blog on her very soon.

From then to now I am still in love and obsessed with beating/hunting and it is something that makes me very happy.

I want this blog page to inspire other people to hunt and shoot and I would love it to be a happy place on the internet not full of hate.

Bye for now and I will be back with more blogs very soon!
