Hi everyone and Happy New Year ! I would like to wish you all well for 2018 and hopefully you all enjoy watching my progress throughout the year ! In this blog post i will be talking about the key events that have occurred in my shooting experience so far.
January-
I had only just started clay pigeon shooting, i never thought i would be so in love with this sport like i am now ! I first went shooting with My Dad, My Mum, My god father and my Dad's friend. I just tried it out and since then I have loved it !
February-
Again, i kept going with my dad on the clays. Also, i was introduced to hide shooting on local farms keeping conservation as it should be.
Also, this is the month when i met my inspirations and shooting idols !
It was the "The Great British Shooting Show". I met people like: Andy and Michelle Crow, Rachel Carrie, Mark Winser and Amber Hill. I was absolutely delighted to meet all these amazing people in the shooting industry ! And i really aspire to be in their positions one day.
March -
Again, I just kept going to grounds with my dad, here we were at Park Lodge.
April-
This month was a big benefit for my shooting experience !
This was the month where i got my first sponsor and sponsored gun, The Lincoln Premier Compact. We went down to Andy Crow's who i cannot thank enough, who has helped me so much ! I was so proud and happy i couldn't comprehend ! Thanks to John Rothery Wholesale ltd !
This was also my birthday month which i was very excited for ! I got a lovely tweed jacket from a tweed retailers in York, which i wore to my sponsor meeting ! I did more of pigeon/hide shooting to keep conservation on our local farmer's land as he had a big problem with them. I really enjoyed doing this as it wasn't something i did as a normal activity.
May-
In May i was so excited to try my new gun ! I first practiced at Park Lodge and i was just building on different targets.
June -
This month i was having my first lessons with a shooting instructor at Beverley CTC called Hamish, who was really good and corrected any bad habbits i picked up. Also, when i was having a lesson, i was grateful to shoot with Rachel Carrie ! She helped me with some targets i seemed to struggle on and I had a really good day !
Also, does anyone else really miss shooting in the sun/ summer ? because I love it !
July -
This month we normally go to the Lake District in either our tent but this year we swapped to caravan. I like going to the lake district because its different to where we live and it has breath-taking walks as we like climbing the mountains etc... This year also, one of my dogs, Bonnie, used to hate going into he water but at the lakes she finally conquered her fear and decided to go in and now she loves it !
August-
This was quite a big month !
I was invited to A Ladies Day at Mickley Hall by Lara Dale. I'm so happy i went because without that i wouldn't have met my shooting instructor/ coach, Linda Grayson. All of the girls were so lovely and quite talented too ! I really enjoyed this day, although i was nervous but i have now learnt there is no pressure at all !
Also, we travelled down to Andy's farm and i didn't want to leave haha ! We did pigeon and hide shooting, my first experience of deer hunting and i also learnt how to gut a deer. I've kept the antlers as a momento and keepsake that I will keep forever !I was very happy and pleased to do all this at just the age of 12 !
We also went to a yearly charity event we all do as a family. This is called 'The Derwent Valley Working Truck Group' which we have done every year since I was about 4. This year we did it for a lovely little girl called Elsie. She has a condition called SMA. We did a range of activities for Elsie which her face was always a smile. Her facebook page is called 'Team Elsie- events, updates and info'. It would mean a lot to such a lovely family ! My Mum's company, Military Masterpieces ltd, has always sponsored this event and supplied awards as we have an awards event evening for the truck drivers who take out their time and effort to raise money for such great causes !
September-
This month i had my first lesson with Linda Grayson ! I was really excited and she has brought me on so much these past few months ! We still continue to have lessons and I'm happy with the level I'm at.
Also, the beating season started on our local shoot and i love it when this time comes around. I have been beating since i was 6 and have loved it ever since !
October -
Beating season started for our local shoot ! I love going and beating on local shoots ! This year i stood on peg for the first time and i absolutely loved it ! I even out shot all 10 of the men haha ! I even shot three in a row, which i was so pleased about ! I shot 11 and the bag was 20, its only a small shoot but I'd rather shoot on a smaller shoot for my first go ! I keep replaying this one shot in my head and i can't wait to shoot on peg again and i also got some tweed breaks from Emma Brown Tweed which i cannot wait to wear ! Also, my dog Bonnie picked her first bird, which was a very proud moment for me !
However, we had some upsetting news about our dog, Pippin. She has unfortunately got terminal cancer but she is still such a happy dog at the moment. Thanks to Lingfield Farm Vetinary practice, where Martin, the owner, does some amazing work on cases that other vets would shy away from.
November-
This month
i decided to join the CPSA. I have been doing 100 bird registered competitions at Old Glossop. The ground is lovely as the scenery around it compliments it nicely. I have shot here 4 times with my friend Chloe Hildrith, another young shot, we can help each other with our problem targets and relate to each other as we are both at the same level in shooting. I have also been and shot there with Becky Brown and Linda.
December-
I have recently moved on to a 12 bore, which I am happy about. I feel more controlled with a 12 rather than a 20 ! I also got my skeet vest and jacket embroided by Kevin at Leon Grant. They did an amazing job ! Kevin specialises in shooting attire and manufacture his own garments on site. Its worth having a look at.
Also, I picked up another sponsor, Rutpen, which i did a blog post about and I'm ever so thankful !
Overall this year has been great and I'm so happy, I cannot wait to see what 2018 brings !
